As we approach the end of 2005, we also come to the end of the one-year terms of NJ for Democracy’s inaugural Executive Board. It’s again time to announce a call for applications to serve on the seven-member NJ for Democracy Executive Board in 2006, for a one-year term beginning February 15.The election process, similar to last year’s, is outlined below.
All members of NJ for Democracy are invited to apply to serve on the Executive Board for the 2006 term. Candidates must adhere to the application process described below.
Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2006. A comprehensive list of candidates will be circulated via statewide leaders by Wednesday, January 18, 2006, and voting will take place through midnight, February 4, 2006.

A. APPLICATION CONTENT 1. Name 2. Municipality and County; what Meetup/Linkup are you connected with, if any? 3. How long have you been associated with New Jersey for Democracy (or DFA)? 4. What roles have you held within New Jersey for Democracy (or DFA)? 5. What should we know about your professional, educational and political background? (brief, relevant commentary, not your resume or CV) 6. Where do you see New Jersey for Democracy going and how can you help move it there? (Out of consideration for the need to disseminate these widely, and to ensure a level playing field for all applicants, please limit your answer to 200 words.) Please note that applications that, in their entirety, exceed a 400-word limit, will be truncated at the 400-word mark, regardless how complete that application may be. (If you use Microsoft Word, try the Word Count toolbar!)
C. CANDIDATE PROFILES
Candidate profiles will be distributed to DFA-Link Local Group Leaders, and will be available online at our website at http://www.njfordemocracy.org/2006candidates by January 18, 2006. (Note: this page is not available, yet.)
D. VOTING PROCESS Voting for Executive Board members will be done at the Local Group level.
Each Local Group will cast votes for the candidates of their choice to elect the seven Executive Board members. A Local Group may follow whatever consultative process it decides on to identify its choices for Executive Board (i.e. only those present vote; email votes will be accepted in lieu of attendance; online polling will collect consensus, etc.).
E. ELIGIBILITY
Eligible Local Groups are those groups who were registered with DFA-Link ( www.dfalink.com) by December 15, 2005, and who have a minimum of 10 members registered for their local DFA-Link group by no later than January 31, 2006.
F. VACANCIES Should any member of the elected Executive Board find himself or herself unable to complete the one-year term, the remaining members will appoint a replacement within sixty (60) days. The Board will make the appointment by a simple majority vote.
G. TERM OF OFFICE The new elected Executive Board will take office on February 15, 2006. |
