Our Chair Jim Dean travelled to New Jersey last Thursday to endorse New Jersey state Senator Loretta Weinberg,
otherwise known as "The Godmother of Progressive Politics." This is
definitely a race to watch since statewide organization New Jersey for
Democracy and local group Bergen Grassroots DFA are spearheading a
reform movement and they are enthusiastically supporting Senator
Weinberg.

According to this Herald News article:
While
members of her party met to pick candidates to run against her,
Democratic State Senator Loretta Weinberg threw a party of her own
Thursday.
With roomfuls of supporters,
a chorus of folk singers and the brother of National Democratic
Chairman Howard Dean cheering them on, Weinberg and her incumbent
running mates, Assemblyman Gordon Johnson and Assemblywoman Valerie
Vainieri Huttle, celebrated the opening of a campaign headquarters in
Englewood -- and toasted to their status as party outsiders.
"We're going to beat the bosses, we shall not be moved," they sang to the accompaniment of guitar and hand claps.
"Just like the tree,
"That's standing by the water.
"We shall not be moved!"
The
trio from District 37 scheduled their party as a counterpoint to a
private meeting of the Bergen County Democratic Organization, which
convened at Democratic headquarters in Hackensack to endorse candidates
to run against Weinberg, Huttle and Johnson in a June primary.
When
Senator Weinberg and her running mates win, this will not only be a
huge victory for the Bergen County Grassroots DFA but it will have huge
ramifications for New Jersey and across the country. DFA is taking back
the country one county at a time...
